Becoming fluent in Portuguese was one of my basic tasks as an ecclesiastical missionary in Brazil. I lived and served in cities such as São Paulo, Recife, and Serra Talhada (home of the Brazilian version of “Robin Hood”).

I became completely fluent in Portuguese within 8 months due to my immersion in Brazilian culture and the task of communicating with as many people from all walks of life as possible.
