Proficiency: Beginner (A2)

I began learning German in 2022 as part of a 2 week trip to visiting my family that live in Switzerland. The trip itself was revelatory and I was able to establish a decent-enough foundation in German while I was there.

Although I am nowhere near as proficient in German as I am in English and the romance languages, I study it from time to time and have gradually improved my capabilities and understanding. Being a non-romance language, it certainly takes longer for me to learn German than say Italian or French. However, I still stand by my theory that learning one foreign language makes learning another one incrementally easier, independent of whether they are from the same language family.
