Vietnamese

Proficiency: Beginner (A1)

As a spur-of-the-moment decision, I began learning Vietnamese in 2023 after dining at an exceptionally fantastic Vietnamese restaurant in Texas. I cannot claim any real level of fluency in Vietnamese, other than being able to introduce myself and ask how someone is doing. However, I periodically add to my knowledge of the language through sporadic study sessions.

Since beginning my study of Vietnamese, I have gained a great interest in and respect for the Vietnamese people. I admire the language itself and its use of Latin characters, which, in my opinion, makes learning Vietnamese significantly easier than other Asian languages.

While I am not fluent in Vietnamese, my theory on multiple language learning still stands. If it were not for my foundation in knowing a few Latin languages, as well as Navajo, learning the basics of Vietnamese would have been seemingly impossible.
